Home Therapy – Abounding Home Health Care

Home Therapy

Individualized Care

A variety of therapies may be ordered by your physician to assist with strengthening, increasing communication ability, increasing endurance, safety with assistive devices, safety in the home, post-operative rehabilitation, to help decrease pain or even to prevent loss of mobility or deteriorating functional abilities. Each therapist, in cooperation with the physician and other disciplines involved in the care of the patient, will create an individualized plan of care specific to a patient’s functionality, cognitive status, and rehabilitative needs and goals.

Physical Therapy

Physical therapy uses physical activity, exercise and additional treatments such as massage to aid in strengthening, healing, pain management and rehabilitation after an injury, illness or operation. Physical therapy may be applicable for someone after a recent fall, loss of balance or difficulty walking due to disease, pain or surgery. Physical therapy may also be ordered for rehabilitation after a stroke, heart attack, heart failure or a noticeable decline in function to prevent further decline and loss of mobility.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy focuses on an individual’s ability to perform the broad range of everyday life activities. An occupational therapist may focus on dexterity, strength, range of motion and safety needed to complete the daily activities of living such as: bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding one’s self, or the ability to safely move around one’s living space.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy involves corrective treatment of physical and/or cognitive disorders that cause difficulty with communication, speaking, and/or swallowing. Our in-home therapists may provide treatments which include suggested changes to diet, targeted oral-motor exercises, and other physical and/or cognitive exercises in order to enable a patient to improve communication, speech, and swallowing safety.
